Who Drove???

I'm almost too embarrassed to put this on here but it was really funny and I can laugh at myself now.  Last Friday when I got out of class I walked to the lobby of the Snow building and proceeded to wait for Doug to come pick me up.  

I just got out of Piano Pedagogy and Doug always comes to get me after that class.  I waited for about 20 minutes and then tried to call him at the school.  Of course the office was closed and I didn't know his extension so I was stuck.  (He really needs to get a cell phone!) I even called his parents to see whether he had been up to their house and thought I got out at 5:30 instead of 4:30.  They hadn't seen him and started to worry.  I thought 'maybe he got in a car crash or something, the roads are really icy.'  

Then I had an idea that I could find out his room extension on the middle school's website.  So I found a computer to use right when my cell phone rang:

Me: Hello?

Doug: Hi what are you doing?

Me: I'm waiting for you. Where have you been?! I've been waiting for like over a half an hour!

Doug: What? I'm at the school waiting for you.

Me: What??? (very puzzled)

Doug: You drove the car today!

And yes I am sad to admit that I had driven the car and was spacey enough to wait for over a half an hour with the keys in my pocket.  Although it is definitely one of my most extreme cases of forgetfulness I doubt I will ever forget that I drove again.
